Second Stage Development Plans
To meet the growing demand in the hinterland and trade,
Ennore Port has initiated action for developing the
following terminals through BOT/Captive basis.
1. Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Import Terminal
of 5 MTPA on Captive basis
IOCL had identified Ennore as a possible location for a
LNG terminal and had carried out a Feasibility Study for setting
up the LNG Terminal with regassification facilities.
IOCL has appointed a consultant for preparation of EIA
and engineering study.
Public hearing was held successfully on 13.09.2012 at
Ennore Port premises.
The Union Cabinet approved leasing of land of Ennore Port
Ltd for a liquid gas (LNG) import terminal being built by the
joint venture led by IOC in which IOC will hold majority stake.
IOCL has planned to commission the project by 2016-17.
2. Development of Container Terminal of
1.40million TEU on DBFOT basis.

The length of the terminal is 730 m and a estimated
capacity is 1.40million TEUs.
Request for qualification for selection of Developer has
been issued on 24.5.2013 and it is planned to award the work by
4. Additional Coal Berth for TNEB of 9 MTPA on Captive
Considering the expansion of the existing thermal power plants
of TNEB and new TNEB - NTPC JV project, TNEB had requested EPL
to establish additional coal berths.
EPL is in the process of preparation of EIA
reports through Consultant.

4. Development of Multipurpose Cargo Terminal on DBFOT
To meet the EXIM traffic of Bulk and Project Cargos like Turbine
& Generators, windmill etc., imports of Fertilizer/ wooden logs,
it is planned to develop a terminal on DBFOT basis.
Appointed the project advisor for the projects.
advisor is preparing the Feasibility report and it is planned to
issue the RFQ by July 2013 for selection of developer.
